Work to repair College Park Road overpass continues this week

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Crews will continue making critical repairs this week to the College Park Road overpass after it suffered damage in a crash.

South Carolina Department of Transportation officials said crews worked through the weekend to repair concrete and other damaged elements under the overpass on I-26 near Summerville.

Drivers should anticipate some traffic restrictions that could impact the daily commute; however, SCDOT said operations will be scheduled to minimize traffic disruptions.

“We appreciate the patience of our community members as we work to get the bridge fully repaired and traffic restored,” SCDOT said.

The overpass was damaged after a piece of equipment being carried by an 18-wheeler struck the bridge last Thursday afternoon.
