Woman flees traffic stop, causes collision closing part of Rifle Range Road

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCBD) – Rifle Range Road near the Isle of Palms Connector is closed Wednesday night due to a vehicle collision as crews work to clear the area.

An Isle of Palms Police officer attempted to stop a vehicle around 8:45 p.m. , but the female driver fled. Due to department policy, police did not pursue the vehicle.

The suspect, who fled the traffic stop, later crashed into at least one other vehicle on Rifle Range Road. The collision did result in non-life-threatening injuries.

The woman is facing multiple charges from IOPPD and the Mount Pleasant Police Department, said Sgt. Storen.

The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the collision. News 2 is currently working to learn more about the situation.
