CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Are you searching for a way to celebrate the Easter holiday as the golden sun rises above the Lowcountry?

Churches across Charleston are holding special Easter sunrise services on Sunday, and all are welcome!

St. Johannes Lutheran Church

St. Johannes Lutheran Church is hosting a sunrise service in partnership with St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and Friendship AME Church. The service will be held from 6:15 – 7:30 a.m. at Friendship AME located at 204 Royall Ave in Mt. Pleasant.

“Come enjoy fellowship and traditional Christian hymns sung with soul,” says the St. Johannes Lutheran Church website.

Pastor Aaron DeBenedetto, pastor of St. Johannes and St. Paul’s Lutheran Churches, will offer the Easter message.

Easter Sunrise Service at Breach Inlet

This sunrise service is an Island tradition hosted by multiple churches on Sullivan’s Island and the Isle of Palms. The service starts at 6:30 a.m. on Sullivan’s Island beach near Thomson Park, just over the Breach Inlet Bridge from Isle of Palms.

To safely navigate to the meeting area, attendees are asked to bring flashlights. A chair and a blanket are also recommended if attendants would like to sit. Officials say this is a popular event and participants are encouraged to come early.

First Baptist Church will have an Easter Sunrise Celebration at The Battery and White Point Gardens from 6:45 – 7:45 a.m.

Grace United Methodist Church

Grace UMC will hold a sunrise service outside starting at 7 a.m. and then hold breakfast at 7:45 a.m.
