Weather advisories issued for Lowcountry areas

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – A special weather statement and special marine warning have been issued for several Lowcountry areas.

A special weather statement has been issued for Charleston County, which has a threat of 55-mile-per-hour winds until 9 p.m. No hail is expected, according to the National Weather Service (NWS). 

A special marine warning from South Santee River to Edisto Beach has been issued for coastal waters. Wind is expected to be greater than 34 knots, said NWS.

 A tornado warning was issued for Georgetown County until 8:15 p.m.

The National Weather Service in Wilmington said a thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located over Georgetown and was moving east at 30 mph around 7:42 p.m. That warning has expired.
