Troopers charge woman in hit and run that killed 77-year-old man

COLLETON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – A suspect has been arrested in a hit and run that killed a 77-year-old bicyclist in Colleton County.

Jessica Dawn Simpson, 34, of Walterboro was arrested on Friday and charged with hit and run involving death and booked at the Colleton County Detention Center.

Charles Folks of Lodge, was killed while bicycling after being hit from behind, according to the Colleton County Coroner.

Master Trooper Bolt said Mr. Folks and Simpson’s Nissan Rogue were traveling west on Highway 64 (Bells Highway) in Lodge when the collision occurred around 3:03 p.m. on Apr. 3.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating this collision.
