Tanger Outlets unveils Hometown Heroes mural to spotlight community difference makers

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD)—Tanger Outlets Charleston has unveiled a new mural that spotlights individuals making a difference in the community.

Each year, the outlet mall spotlights these individuals who are in the fields of healthcare, education, community service, military, and first response through its Hall of Hometown Heroes programs.

Local citizens nominate and vote on who they think deserves to be a member. Usually, inductees are recognized at an annual Tree Lighting and Hometown Heroes Celebration in November, but they are honored in a new way this year.

Created by the Girl Who Paints, a vibrant mural featuring the local heroes now appears between the Under Armour and Puma stores.

Tanger is taking applications for next year’s hero nominees. The community can nominate people here.

Heroes receive an award, professional photo shoot, shopping spree, and featured spot in next year’s Hall of Hometown Heroes.
