Suspect in custody for pointing a gun in Mt. Pleasant restaurant
MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCBD) – The Mount Pleasant Police Department has announced that they have a suspect in custody for pointing a gun at employees of a Mount Pleasant restaurant.
Officers say Alessandro Paredes Worwa, turned himself in to detectives on Wednesday morning.
The police department has charged Worwa with presenting a firearm during an incident at Belle Station Restaurant on February 14.
As previously reported, town officials told News 2 that an individual walked inside the Belle Station Family Restaurant and pointed a gun at employees at approximately 4:35 p.m.
Worwa then fled to a nearby Planet Fitness in the Belle Hall Shipping Center before leaving the scene.
The Planet Fitness and surrounding businesses were closed for several hours while law enforcement searched for Worwa.
Police stated that the situation was an isolated incident involving two individuals who knew each other. At that time, the police identified the suspect but did not confirm whether the suspect was in custody or disclosed their identity to the public.
No one was injured in the incident and no shots were fired.
