Suspect in custody after standoff with CCSO, SWAT at Hollywood area home

HOLLYWOOD, S.C. (WCBD) – Authorities were responding Friday afternoon to an incident with a suspect in the Hollywood community.

The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) and SWAT arrested Andrew Robert Mettal, 27, after an hours-long standoff.

Officials say a K-9 was deployed into the residence and was able to locate Mettal in the attic. Deputies later found Mettal inside one of the walls and removed him from the residence around 7 p.m.

Mettal is charged with criminal sexual conduct and kidnapping in the first degree. He has a bond hearing scheduled for Saturday morning.

Roads have been reopened in the area of Mauss Hill Road between Moon Dam Drive and Brown Meadow Lane.

Mettal is currently being held in the Sheriff Al Cannon Detention Center.
