Suspect accused of murdering Junction Kitchen employee caught in Georgia, police say

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The man suspected of shooting three victims, killing one at a downtown Charleston apartment complex, has been arrested by U.S. Marshalls in Georgia.

Ryan D’Lorenzo Lewis, 30, was apprehended in Decatur, Georgia, Thursday.

He is charged with murder, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, assault and battery, possession of a firearm by a person convicted of a violent crime, and two counts of attempted murder.

On July 5, around 11 p.m., a Charleston Police officer patrolling the Bridgeview Apartment complex heard multiple gunshots.

Officers responded to the scene where the gunshots were heard and found three people suffering from gunshot wounds. One victim, identified as Brian Fokes, died on the scene.

The remaining victims were immediately taken to the hospital for their injuries. The pair have since been released, according to the Charleston Police Department. Police said an argument is what led to the shooting that killed 44-year-old Fokes.

Shortly after the shooting, Fokes’ coworkers organized a fundraiser to supplement funeral costs and help support Fokes’ family and children. Those who knew him said he was an advocate against gun violence and an all-around good person.

Authorities say Lewis was released from the S.C. Department of Corrections on May 1 and was under the supervision of S.C. Probation, Pardon, and Parole for armed robbery at the time of the shooting.
