Summerville man arrested for attempting to sell contraband at Dorchester County prison
SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCBD) – A Summerville man out on bond was arrested for conspiring with an inmate to sell drugs and other contraband at Lieber Correctional Institute.
Damien Rakari Anderson, 25, is charged with trafficking methamphetamines, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, providing contraband to an inmate, and criminal conspiracy, according to the SC Department of Corrections (SCDC).
In October of 2023, Anderson conspired with an inmate at the Dorchester County prison to introduce marijuana, methamphetamine, and other contraband into Lieber Correctional, arrest warrants state.
Anderson planned to have a package containing 350 grams of marijuana and 113 grams of methamphetamine, along with miscellaneous items, attached to the bottom of an SCDC truck and driven into the facility for distribution.
Investigators found text messages between Anderson and several inmates discussing the plan. Warrants say they also found a video taken in the LCI parking lot ‘planning the introduction’ on Anderson’s phone.
Anderson was charged in February for trying to fly a drone carrying contraband into LCI’s prison yard.
