Summerville High to have eLearning day Friday as Greenwave compete in State Championship game
SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCBD) – Summerville High School’s football team will compete Friday in the State Championship game.
Summerville Greenwave advanced to the championship after defeating Sumter 35-6 for the 5A Division 1 Lower State title last Friday night.
The team has not played for a state title since 2007.
The game will take place Friday, Dec. 13 at South Carolina State University against Dutch Fork. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
Summerville High School will operate an eLearning day on Friday so that the school community can support their team.
“Given the scheduling of the game during instructional hours and the travel time required, Summerville High School will utilize Friday, December 13th, as an eLearning Day,” the district said. “Students will participate in their classes virtually, ensuring minimal disruption to learning while allowing the school community to support the team.”
All other Dorchester District 2 schools operate on their normal schedules.
“While the South Carolina High School League’s decision to schedule the game at 2:00 PM presents logistical challenges for the district and community, DD2 is committed to balancing academic priorities and the opportunity to
celebrate this significant achievement. We are proud of the Greenwave and the hard work, dedication, and sportsmanship they have demonstrated throughout the season,” DD2 said.
The district encourages the community to rally behind Summerville Greenwave as they head to the championship game.
