Undefeated prospect Emiliano Fernando Vargas is gearing up for his sixth appearance of the year in a thrilling six-round lightweight bout against fellow unbeaten Cristian Olivares. The action is set to unfold on Thursday, Nov. 16, at Las Vegas’s T-Mobile Arena.
The 19-year-old Vargas, son of former junior middleweight world champion Fernando Vargas, has significantly impacted his budding career with an impressive 7-0 record, including six knockouts. In his last fight, he exhibited his prowess with a third-round TKO victory over Alejandro Guardado.
The Vargas-Olivares bout is part of a star-studded ESPN-televised doubleheader. The main event will feature the vacant WBC lightweight world title showdown between Shakur Stevenson and Edwin De Los Santos. The WBO junior lightweight world title battle between Emanuel Navarrete and Robson Conceição promises to be an electrifying match.
“Las Vegas is my hometown, and I can’t wait to fight on such a loaded card,” Vargas said. “This is going to be a huge sports week in Las Vegas, and I am honored to be part of it. I want to be Prospect of the Year, and I’m going to make a statement on Nov. 16.”
Promoted by Top Rank and in association with Sampson Boxing, tickets for this highly-anticipated event go on sale Friday, Oct. 6, at noon PT via AXS.com.
