Some school bus routes affected after excavator strikes gas line in Dorchester Co.
DORCHESTER COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – Some students who normally ride the bus home from school must be picked up by a parent or guardian Monday after an excavator struck a gas line in Dorchester County.
Dorchester School District Two informed that a parent or guardian must pick up all elementary, middle and high school bus riders who are dropped off in the Herons Walk and Azalea Ridge neighborhoods.
Clay Field Trail is shut down between Summers Drive and the dead end toward Delemar. Herons Walk and Azalea Ridge are expected to be closed until around 4:30 p.m. Monday. However, the school is accessible.
“Your patience and understanding are greatly appreciated as we work to ensure the safety of our students, staff, and families,” DDTwo said in a statement.
It all comes after an excavator hit a high-pressure gas line near Clay Field Trail in Summers Corner. The area has been shut down while crews work.
A temporary two-lane access to SC Route 165/Delemar Highway is now open to the public. The temporary access road is about 300 feet from the Clay Field Trail/Route 165 entrance.
