Smoke prompts evacuation at Colleton County school
COLLETON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – Smoke caused Students and staff to be evacuated from a Colleton County elementary school.
Colleton County Fire-Rescue crews responded to a report of smoke in the ceiling of the breakroom at Hendersonville Elementary School on Wednesday afternoon.
The school is located on Hendersonville Highway in Walterboro.
Students and staff were evacuated as a precaution. They were taken to an area of the school that is separate from where the smoke was seen to keep them out of bad weather.
The agency is assessing the cause.
