Several arrested after 13 cats found poisoned in Berkeley County
BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – Authorities in Berkeley County arrested multiple people amid an investigation into the poisoning of more than a dozen cats.
At least 13 cats were poisoned and killed at a location off Drop Off Drive in the Nexton community.
The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office said five people have been arrested in connection with the investigation.
The sheriff’s office began investigating an incident where several cats and opossums were found dead at a recently sold property on Drop Off Drive back in October. It’s not clear if the recent arrests were part of that investigation.
Lowcountry animal rescue Pet Helpers said at the time that the animals were part of a monitored cat colony and were discovered throughout the wooded area where they lived.
