SCHP: 1 dead, 1 injured after crash in Berkeley County
BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating an early morning collision on I-26 that left one person dead and another injured.
Troopers say the collision occurred around 2:20 a.m. on I-26 westbound in Ladson.
According to Master Trooper Brandon J. Bolt, a 2000 Ford sedan was disabled on the westbound emergency lane when a 2000 Jeep SUV traveling west veered off the road to the right and struck the sedan in the rear.
The passenger of the sedan was the sole occupant and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the SUV was injured and taken to a local hospital.
The Berkeley County Coroner’s Office has not yet released the name of the deceased.
