Pedestrian dies after crash on Bacons Bridge Road

DORCHESTER COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – A pedestrian has died following an early Monday morning crash on Bacons Bridge Road.

Lance Cpl. Nick Pye with the South Carolina Highway Patrol (SCHP) said the collision took place on Bacons Bridge Road near Ridge Road around 7:32 a.m.

A 2023 Chevrolet pickup truck was traveling north on Bacons Bridge Rd. when it struck the pedestrian who was traveling west on the roadway.

The pedestrian was taken to a local hospital where they later died. The victim has not yet been identified.

Trooper Pye said the driver of that truck, who was the sole occupant, was not injured.

The crash is under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
