North Charleston officers recover nearly 50 illegal guns in February
NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Nearly 50 illegal firearms were pulled from the streets of North Charleston last month.
Patrol officers with the North Charleston Police Department (NCPD) seized 48 firearms from offenders who were illegally carrying or possessing them throughout February, the agency said, adding that 45 people had been arrested in relation.
That number is up from February 2023 when North Charleston officers took 36 illegal guns from the streets and made 35 arrests.
“Our city’s safety is our top priority and we’re committed to making sure that illegal firearms stay off our streets,” the department said in a social media post.
Additionally, North Charleston’s officers pulled 25 illegal guns from the streets in January 2024 and made 23 arrests in those cases.
North Charleston PD said the department is dedicated to being proactive in keeping the communities safe. “We’ll continue to put in the work to make that happen,” the agency said.
