Man charged with attempted murder after firing at victim during group argument
DORCHESTER COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – Authorities arrested a man accused of firing several shots into a group outside a Ladson home, striking one person.
Deputies with the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to an address on Chemistry Circle on Friday where they learned a person had suffered a gunshot wound. The victim was taken to a local hospital by a family member before law enforcement arrived.
Robert Aden Duran, 19, was identified as the person responsible for the shooting. He was arrested and charged with attempted murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime.
According to affidavits provided by the sheriff’s office, Duran was inside a vehicle at the shooting location when the victim and their brother arrived in a separate vehicle.
At one point, the victim and brother engaged in a verbal argument with multiple at the scene.
The documents state that Duran distanced himself from the group, watched as they argued, and then pulled out a firearm and fired six shots into the group. The victim was struck once in the upper back.
Duran is being held at the Dorchester County Detention Center on a $40,000 cash/surety bond.
