Man arrested after fleeing from Berkeley County deputies in stolen car
MONCKS CORNER, S.C. (WCBD) – The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man after he led deputies on a chase in a stolen vehicle.
Domanique Anthony Roberts, 23, of North Charleston, was charged with Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, Possession of a Firearm by a Person Convicted of a Violent Felony, and Failure to stop for Blue Lights second offense, according to Sheriff Duane Lewis.
Deputies were conducting active patrols in the Camp Hall area of Ridgeville on December 7th when they observed a vehicle that was reported stolen out of the North Charleston Police Department’s jurisdiction.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle but Roberts fled the scene and a police chase ensued.
Deputies deployed stop sticks, which deflated the front passenger tire of the vehicle and caused Roberts to lose control of the car in the grassy area of the I-26 and College Park Rd on-ramp. Authorities then immediately detained Roberts.
The Sheriff’s Office says they located a Taurus Brasil .38 Special Revolver that was in plain view on the driver’s side floorboard.
