Man accused in 2022 hit-and-run that injured 2 expected in Charleston courtroom
CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – A man accused in a September 2022 hit-and-run crash that injured two pedestrians is expected to appear in a Charleston courtroom on Monday, according to the Solicitor’s office.
Erik Kirby was arrested on two charges of ‘hit and run with death or injury’ just days after two women were struck near the intersection of Meeting and Columbus streets during the early morning hours of September 16.
Kirby fled the scene and was later identified after law enforcement received tips from the community. He was arrested on Sep. 18.
The two women suffered serious injuries and were taken to a local hospital where they were expected to recover.
Kirby was later released from the Al Cannon Detention Center on a $500,000 bond.
Monday’s hearing is expected to begin at 2:00 p.m.
