Kendrick Lamar Drops Surprise Album ‘GNX’, Addresses Questionable Behavior From Snoop Dogg & Lil Wayne & More
Kendrick Lamar drops his highly anticipated album GNX by surprise addressing all the chatter and bringing the lil homies along with him.
Earlier this week when Apple crowned Kendrick Lamar Apple Music’s “Rapper of the Year” naysayers were livid. The idea an artist who didn’t release an album this year won gained dozens of hot takes. In true Kendrick Lamar Gemini fashion he released a surprise album GNX in the early hours of Friday morning.
On the very first track “wacced out murals” he addresses Lil Wayne’s angst about his selection for the Super Bowl halftime show. Then he moves right to finally revealing how he felt about Snoop Dogg posting Drake’s AI “Taylor Made” track featuring Snoop and 2Pac verses.
“Used to bump Tha Carter III, I held my Rollie chain proud /Irony, I think my hard work let Lil Wayne down /Whatever, though, call me crazy, everybody questionable/ Turn me to an eskimo, I drew the line and decimals
Snoop posted “Taylor Made,” I prayed it was the edibles /I couldn’t believe it, it was only right for me to let it go/ Won the Super Bowl and Nas the only one congratulate me /All these n*ggas agitated, I’m just glad they showin’ they faces”
Also, Kendrick seemingly addressed podcasters Shxtsngigs for allowing Andrew Schulz to openly disrespect black women during a joint podcast.
“Don’t let no white comedian talk about no Black women that’s law” Kendrick raps on
Kendrick keeps the petty train rolling with Taylor Swift’s producer Jack Antonoff producing almost every song on the project. For those who alleged Kendrick doesn’t put on Los Angeles artists, GNX is filled with all the “lil homies”. DJ Mustard’s production returns for the album’s runaway smash “tv off”.
Another question answered on the album was how Kendrick would handle the Heart series after Drake’s “The Heart Part 6”. Kendrick entirely ignored it like it never happened and kept the series going with hesitation. The album is just over 44 minutes long and feels like a mixtape or appetizer with the steak dinner on the way. It’s a great day for music and culture unless you were saving for a GNX.
Sorry, the price is now skyrocketing to the moon thanks to King Kenny, keep saving.
