Inmate recaptured after briefly escaping cell at L.C. Knight Detention Center

DORCHESTER COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – An inmate was quickly captured Monday morning after escaping from his cell.

Steven Wright, public information officer for the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office, said the inmate briefly escaped their cell at the L.C. Knight Detention Center, but he was “located within the facility and never breached the exterior.”

Specific information about the inmate’s escape was not provided.

Wright said the incident is under investigation by the agency’s Office of Professional Standards.
