Travis Hunter made use of Colordo’s bye week joining Nick Saban on “College GameDay” to talk Heisman season and more.

When Travis Hunter committed to play for Deion Sanders and Jackson State he unknowingly created coach versus coach beef. While talking in closed quarters then Alabama head coach Nick Saban accused Deion Sanders of using new NIL laws to pay Hunter. These comments stirred up controversy in college football but Deion and Nick later appeared on ESPN together after burying the hatchet.

The awkward reconciliation between them was featured on Prime Video’s “Coach Prime” series. Saban and Prime eventually realized they had the same enemy and had a tough conversation on camera.

Over the weekend  Heisman hopeful Travis Hunter used his bye week for a trip to join Saban on “College Gameday” on ESPN. Hunter broke down his relationship with Deion after the massive decision to attend an HBCU then follow him to Colorado.

“We have that great bond,” Hunter noted. “It’s like a father and son bond. I know whenever I need something I can go and ask him, and I’m pretty sure I can get it, 100% of the time.”

Hunter also revealed Prime rejoining Nike has also been a bonus in their father-son relationship.

“He’s a Nike guy now… So, I can’t get no Jordans off of him, but when I get to his house, I steal whatever I can,” Hunter jokes. “He’s like a father figure to me. I mean, I went to his house yesterday and whatever I wanted, he was able to just let me get it. I took it, if he didn’t want me to take it.”

We cannot exaggerate how unusual Travis Hunter’s appearance on “College Gameday” was especially since Colorado wasn’t the hosting college that week. If Coach Saban ever wanted to make up for his commitment comments on Hunter he achieved that task.

Never to be outdone Hunter sported a banner with a Heisman statement campaigning for himself and Sheduer Sanders. Playing offense and defense at a high level has certainly almost locked Hunter into the race. If Colorado ends up in the College Football Playoffs Hunter is even closer to taking home the trophy.

Rumors suggest he will likely be the first pick in the 2025 NFL draft taken by the New England Patriots.
