Gamecocks to be honored with parade after winning NCAA National Championship

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WCBD) – The University of South Carolina Women’s Basketball team will be celebrated during a Sunday afternoon parade to mark their NCAA National Championship win.

The parade in Columbia will begin on Main Street (at the corner of Main and Laurel Streets) at 2:00 p.m. and concludes at the intersection of Main and Gervais Streets in front of the South Carolina State House.

A pep rally will follow on the State House steps, where USC Head Coach Dawn Staley, athletics director Ray Tanner, and selected team members are slated to speak on the season and championship.

The team finished a perfect season after defeating the Iowa Hawkeyes 87-75 earlier this month, earning the national championship. South Carolina has won three titles in the last eight years, including two of the past three.
