E.B. Ellington receives News 2 Cool School award

E.B. Ellington Elementary School in Ravenel is creating engaged learners, who take ownership of their learning. The E.B. Ellington Eagles receive our first Cool School award for the 2024-2025 school year.

Students at E.B. Ellington, a rural Title One School in Ravenel pushed to create a culture of belonging. So school leaders created a House system, a model adopted from the Ron Clark Academy in Atlanta. There are four houses: Isibindi – House of Courage; Altruismo – House of Givers; Reveur – House of Dreamers; Amistad – House of Friendship.

The house system is a daily incentives program, supported by a point system. The four houses gather on early release days for recognition and rewards for individual students and group houses, showing great character, academic leadership, and school spirit. School leaders say it’s already making a difference in the classroom, building character and leadership on the path to improving academics.

Congratulations E.B. Ellington Eagles!
