Drake’s OVO Merch Features Model With Likeness to Kendrick’s Long Time Fiancée
The industry wide views Drake as the king of sneak dissing. So was he or someone in his camp trolling Kendrick with his latest OVO merch drop? The chat is pointing out some obvious vibes over model Braedyn Ferguson, who is in a digital print campaign for Drake’s OVO clothing brand and happen to really favor Lamar’s fiancée, Whitney Alford. Listen, we get it. Maybe a stretch but look for yourself and let us know what you think.
What’s crazy is one image shows Ferguson rocking a simple white tank top, commonly referred to as a “wife beater.” Yikes.
ICYMI or live under a rock, Whitney Alford, Kendrick Lamar’s longtime partner, finance and mother of his two children, was not so subtly mentioned in the epic feud between Lamar and Drake. How does Alford fall into this? Drake basically accused Lamar of domestic violence against Alford in his diss tracks “Push Ups” and “Family Matters.”
Here are the bars … “Family Matters,” Drake raps, “When you put your hands on your girl, is it self-defense ’cause she bigger than you? […] They hired a crisis management team to clean up the fact that you beat on your queen / The picture you painted ain’t what it seem, you’re dead.” He also raps, “Why did you move to New York? / Is it ’cause you livin’ that bachelor life? / Proposed in 2015 but don’t wanna make her your actual wife / I’m guessin’ this wedding ain’t happenin’, right? / ‘Cause we know the girls that you actually like / Your darkest secrets are comin’ to light.”
Back to the OVO merch. Everybody and anybody who has an opinion, began to speculate that the model’s oddly close resemblance to Alford in the OVO ad was in fact intentional.
One comment read, “They tryna sub with a Whitney look alike. Drake’s camp is trying to sabotage his career [crying face emoji].” But who’s career, though?
Another user added, “Nah they did this on purpose to troll Ken.” A third remarked, “Whitney on a wifebeater fit… y’all hilariously petty.”
Before the merch drop, Kendrick Lamar featured Alford and their children in his “Not Like Us” music video. The world saw it. He showcased his family dancing happily together. It was cute, ya’ll. Many believe this was Lamar directly combating Drake’s damning insinuations. Ms. Alford was wearing a white tank top in the visual. So make your own guess if the OVO merch drop was a chess move or just a coincidence.
