Crews respond to outside fire in Awendaw near Steed Creek Road

AWENDAW, S.C. (WCBD) – Crews are on scene of an outside fire in Awendaw.

The fire is on Halfway Creek near Steed Creek Road with the bulk of the fire being in the Francis Marion National Forest.

The South Carolina Forestry Commission is on the way with a tractor to help cut a fire line.

Crews with the Awendaw-McClellanville Fire District have cleared the scene, but the Untied States Forest Service has set a back burn and will remain the at scene.
