City of Charleston to discuss storm preparations during Saturday press conference
CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Charleston city leaders on Saturday afternoon will provide an update on Tropical Depression Four and its potential impacts to the area.
An emergency press conference will be held at the Gaillard Center at 6 p.m. to urge residents to prepare for the impact of a powerful tropical depression approaching the region.
Charleston Mayor William Cogswell, Charleston Police Chief Chito Walker, and Charleston Fire Chief Dan Curia are expected to speak.
The storm is expected to increase in strength as it nears Florida’s west coast this weekend. From there, it’s forecast to move across the state and emerge near the South Carolina coast early next week.
Local impacts include heavy rainfall, which could prompt flooding and gusty winds.
City leaders will discuss preparations during the news conference, which will air live on News 2 and stream in this story.
