Charleston County leads hurricane response exercise
CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Residents will see an increase in police presence in the Charleston area as the county conducts a full-scale emergency response exercise.
Charleston County says the scheduled exercise is to prepare for the peak of the Atlantic Hurricane Season.
The Charleston County Emergency Management team will conduct a multi-day exercise simulating a full-scale emergency response in coordination with regional partner agencies.
The response exercise is scheduled for Monday, July 29 through Wednesday, July 31.
County officials say residents will see the most emergency response personnel on Wednesday.
During this time, the public can expect to see helicopters, boats, and mobile command units simulating rescue operations.
