Burn ban still active in Georgetown County
GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – A burn ban continues in Georgetown County this weekend.
βThe State Forester’s Burning Ban remains in effect for Georgetown County this morning. All though the weather is nice, think twice before you light,β said Georgetown County Emergency Management in a reminder to residents.
Outdoor burning is prohibited until the ban is lifted. Those who do not comply with the ban may receive hefty fines and/or jail time.
Wildfires that broke out in the county earlier this month have been contained; however, conditions for dangerous wildfires persist in the area.
