Berkeley County detectives hope community tips will help them solve April 2021 homicide

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – What happened to Johntay Weathers? Detectives in Berkeley County hope information from the community will help solve an April 2021 homicide case.

Deputies with the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) responded to Roper St. Francis Berkeley Hospital on April 23, 2021, for a man with a gunshot wound.

The victim, 28-year-old Johntay Weathers, was pronounced dead at the hospital.

According to the sheriff’s office, preliminary investigations revealed that the shooting likely happened in the Longridge area of the county and remains unsolved three years later.

The sheriff’s office is requesting the public’s assistance in solving the case. They asked that anyone with information contact them at 843-719-4169. You can give an anonymous tip, officials said.
