Barricaded suspect situation ongoing at Mount Pleasant Planet Fitness

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCBD) – Police in Mount Pleasant are responding to an active situation at a Mount Pleasant fitness center Friday afternoon.

Town officials tell News 2 that a former employee of the Belle Station Family Restaurant walked inside the restaurant and pointed a gun at employees.

Afterward, the suspect then fled to the nearby Planet Fitness in the Belle Hall Shopping Center and barricaded themselves inside. The suspect is believed to be armed.

The gym has since been cleared. Several law enforcement officers are on the scene.
