Authorities arrest woman accused in hit-and-run that killed sergeant
RIDGEVILLE, S.C. (WCBD) – A driver accused of hitting and killing a Berkeley County sergeant early Monday morning has been arrested.
A sergeant with the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office was driving a motorcycle when he was struck by a vehicle on Old Gilliard Road (Highway 27) around 5 a.m.
Cpl. Nick Pye with the South Carolina Highway Patrol said the driver of a 2011 Toyota sedan, identified as 30-year-old Jessica Ann Goodwin, left the scene; however, she was later located.
Goodwin was not injured in the crash. She is being charged with hit and run leaving the scene of a collision involving death.
