‘Skate the Stadium’ returns to Daniel Island with holiday movie series

DANIEL ISLAND, S.C. (WCBD) – Lace up your skates and get ready for one of the Charleston area’s most popular holiday events! Skate the Stadium returns to Credit One Stadium later this month.

Guests are invited to “step into a winter wonderland” when the Daniel Island facility gets a makeover featuring festive decorations, twinkling lights, cozy firepits, and a custom-built synthetic ice-skating rink.

It all begins Friday, Nov. 29 with the lighting of a 22-foot Christmas tree. Guests can enjoy a magical snow show, live music, and visits with Santa and his elves from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m.

No ticket is needed for entry into the Christmas tree lighting ceremony.

The ice skating rink will be open on select nights in December. Tickets will cost $10 per person and include a skate rental and a 45-minute session. Admission for spectators is free.

Take a break from skating and enjoy sweet treats like s’mores, and cinnamon sugar pretzels, or sip on a hot cup of cocoa or coffee. And there are seasonal beers and specialty cocktails for adults seeking extra holiday cheer.

New this year, the stadium is introducing a holiday movie series on Friday nights. The line-up includes ‘A Christmas Story’ on Dec. 13, “Elf” on Dec. 20, and “The Santa Claus” on Dec. 27.
