‘On Patrol: Live’ returns: Can Berkeley Co. residents be recorded at any time?
BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – On Patrol: Live returns to Berkeley County beginning Friday, raising the question – is it okay for anyone to be recorded in Berkeley County?
On Patrol: Live is a television series that documents police officers and sheriff deputies during ride-alongs throughout the United States. Berkeley County has been featured on the show since its premiere on July 22, 2022.
News 2 spoke with Berkeley County Sheriff Duane Lewis about any restrictions on filming arrests during the production of On Patrol: Live.
According to Sheriff Lewis, there are no restrictions for filming in a public setting. So, even if you’re speeding, you could be on the newest episode.
However, cameras cannot go inside of houses and film residents. They also blur the faces of sexual assault victims and minors; however, Sheriff Lewis added that if anyone directly asks not to be filmed, they won’t be.
Berkeley County previously took a hiatus from the show back in July. Sheriff Duane Lewis previously said, “We made the difficult decision to pause our appearance on On Patrol: Live, and my hope is that after the summer the show will welcome us back.”
On Patrol: Live airs on Friday and Saturday nights on REELZ and streams on Peacock.
