Crews contain West Ashley apartment fire

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Crews quickly contained a West Ashley apartment fire.

The Charleston Fire Department and partner agencies responded to a 9-1-1 call reporting a structure fire at the Magnolia Apartments on Ashley Hall Road shortly after 9:30 p.m. Thursday.

Firefighters arrived in less than five minutes and reported smoke coming from the two-story apartment building.

One person escaped the involved apartment unit before fire crews arrived. A cat was also rescued.

Charleston Fire said the occupant went to a local hospital for possible smoke inhalation.

The fire marshal’s office was called to the scene and is reviewing the incident.
