Colleton Co. announces back to school date amid historic flooding
COLLETON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – After historic flooding washed out areas of Colleton County, delaying in-person learning, district officials announced when kids will be back in the classroom.
The school district will resume regular hours on Tuesday, Aug. 13, and students should bring their Chromebooks and chargers.
Mary Jo Fox, spokesperson for Colleton County School District, said all extracurricular activities and athletics will be back to normal.
Due to ongoing flooding concerns, the district is providing hub transports to students assigned to a bus route. Parents will need to drop the student off at the nearest elementary school, Cottageville Elementary, Bells Elementary, or Hendersonville Elementary.
At the end of the day, students will be dropped off at the hub school, where parents will need to pick them up. Pickup and dismissal times will be the same as normal operations.
If you are dealing with effects of Tropical Storm Debby’s aftermath, the district asks you to contact the Office of Student Services at 843-782-4510 or email [email protected]for support.
