Debby leaves Lowcountry: Showers and thunderstorms through Thursday

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Storm Team 2 says Thursday is likely the Lowcountry’s last day enduring Tropical Storm Debby.

Meteorologist Josh Marthers says Debby’s center is making its way north after making its second landfall near Bulls Bay, South Carolina early Thursday.

“There will be pockets of showers and a few thunderstorms that try to rotate through the area around the center of our tropical storm – so just be prepared for that. It’s going to linger throughout the afternoon into the evening,” said Marthers.

Marthers adds that substantial rain amounts are pretty much over, maybe an inch of rainfall throughout Thursday.

Over the past 5 days, the rain totals have added to around 10-18 inches of rain for the Lowcountry.

Storm Team 2 expects a few thunderstorms to develop Friday and throughout the weekend but those will not be driven by Debby. Marthers say the summer-like heat will cause the expected showers.
