Coroner confirms man found burned in car was homicide
CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – The Charleston Coroner’s Office has revealed the cause of death of the person discovered in a burnt vehicle on April 13.
Coroner Bobbi Jo O’Neal has confirmed Omarion Brown, 20, of Charleston died as a result of a gunshot wound. Brown was found in a vehicle following reports of a vehicle fire off of Koester Road.
Previously reported officials said a body was discovered inside the vehicle after fire crews extinguished the flames.
“Due to the burns to the deceased, the cause of death was not readily apparent,” said Alexis Douglas, public information officer for the sheriff’s office.
The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) is investigating and has not confirmed any arrests at this time.
