1 dead in Savannah Highway multi-car crash
CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Authorities are investigating a deadly three-vehicle crash that happened New Year’s Day on Savannah Highway.
Officers with the Charleston Police Department (CPD) responded to the intersection of Savannah Highway and Dobbin Road just before 5:30 p.m.
An investigation determined that a Hyundai Elantra, followed by a Dodge Caravan, were traveling south on Savannah Highway when a Chevy Malibu ran a red light while coming from Dobbin Road.
Officials say the Hyundai collided with the Chevy, which also resulted in the Dodge colliding when the other vehicles.
The driver of the Chevy, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police. The driver’s name has not yet been released.
The crash remains under investigation.
