Severe weather impacting the Lowcountry on Wednesday

Video sent to News 2 from a viewer shows what appears to be a funnel cloud in Moncks Corner. Chief Meteorologist Rob Fowler said the video shows a wall cloud, but unclear if there was a funnel touching the ground. The National Weather Service will investigate.

UPDATE 5:59 PM: Play has been suspended at Credit One Charleston Open due to lightning. No word on when matches will resume.

UPDATE 5:47 PM: Tornado warning in Berkeley County has expired.

UPDATE: Tornado Warning has been issued for Berkeley County until 5:45 p.m.

Areas include: Moncks Corner, Old Santee Canal State Park, Huger and Pinopolis.

UPDATE 5:07 PM: A Severe Thunderstorm Warning was issued for Colleton and Dorchester Counties until 6:00 p.m

Locations impacted include: Walterboro, Cottageville, Round O and Ritter.

UPDATE 4:53 PM: A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for Berkeley County until 6:00 p.m.

Locations include Goose Creek, Moncks Corner, Southern Lake Moultrie, Old Santee Canal State Park and Pinopolis.

UPDATE 4:25 PM: A tornado watch is in effect for Charleston, Berkeley, Dorchester and Colleton Counties until 11:00 p.m.

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Another round of severe weather is expected to impact areas across the Lowcountry on Wednesday.

Storm Team 2 said scattered strong storms will develop during the afternoon and evening hours on Wednesday.

“A couple of showers to start, but the higher risk of scattered thunderstorms will hold off until this afternoon and evening,” said Storm Team 2 Meteorologist Josh Marthers.

While the storms the threat of widespread severe weather won’t be as high as Tuesday, some of these storms could produce wind damage, large hail, isolated tornadoes, and localized flooding.

The timing is between noon and midnight.
